This month, we celebrate the feast of the Ascension (when Jesus went up, body and soul, into Heaven). Forty days after Jesus rose from the dead He took his disciples up to a big hill and told them that he was going to send the Holy Spirit to them soon. Then He went up into the sky and disappeared behind the clouds.
Sometimes we are sad when somebody we love dies or moves away. And that’s okay. We can’t stay with our friends forever in this world, but we will in Heaven. Jesus is there waiting for us to come and live forever with Him and all our friends.
On June 9th, we should celebrate Jesus’ going into Heaven, and remember that he has gone ahead of us to make a place ready for us when we die.
“The same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11)
