When Archangel Gabriel told St. Mary that she is pregnant and that she is going to be the mother of Jesus, he also informed her that her cousin St. Elizabeth is also pregnant. Soon after, St. Mary decided to go see her cousin and help her out. St. Mary did not stop for a moment and think about herself and how she might need help herself. Instead she thought about her very old cousin who might be needing more help.
After a very long trip, St Mary finally reached the house of Zacharias, Elizabeth’s husband. As soon as St Mary greeted Elizabeth, her baby leaped inside her belly and St Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She knew then that St Mary was going to have a very special baby! Do you know who was St. Elizabeth’s child? That’s right, it was St. John the Baptist.
How about Mary, who was her child? It was Jesus!
